Volunteer Opportunities
Work directly with youth:
Weekly Mentoring—Meet one-on-one with a youth regularly to provide support and guidance.
Situational Mentoring/Tutoring—Meet one-on-one with a youth periodically to teach a skill or talent.
Vocational Mentoring—Allow a youth to job shadow and/or obtain a job or internship at your workplace or business.
Host Home—Offer your home as a short-term residence for a youth.
House Volunteer—Be available weekly to hang out at the house, help out, and get to know youth. Shifts available M-F, 9-1 and 1-5.
Off Site Client Support—Provide transitional support by helping transport youth.
Classes/Groups—Provide life skills training and/or facilitate discussion in a small group setting.
Activities/Outdoor Adventure—Support staff and youth in various activities and outdoor adventures.
Family Dinner—Interact with and support youth at the monthly “Family Dinner”.
Working with Staff to help serve youth:
Office/Administrative work—Help with data entry, filing, printing/stocking new materials, and other various office tasks.
IT Support—Maintain our Linux based server, facilitate network administration and software installation, facilitate new computer setup, assist with computer problems and troubleshooting, and/or help with other technical difficulties that come up.
Cleaning/Custodial Work—Get on the ‘cleaning schedule’ and help clean periodically.
Yard Work/Maintenance—Help with periodic yard work and maintenance needs.
Furniture Transport—Assist in moving furniture and other donated items from one place to another.
Prayer Team—Organize or join a prayer group to support the Matthews House.
Grant Writing—Help our funding efforts by writing grants.
Meal Provision/Preparation—Provide and/or prepare meals for programs, events, and activities.
Special Events/Fundraising— Assist with seeking donors and/or sponsors, marketing, planning, and other details for special events.
