On Wednesday evening, December 10th youth, mentors and volunteers joined at First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins for a Christmas Party hosted by Steppin’ Out.

Thanks to Steppin Out, the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist was festively decorated and plenty of tasty food was available for all. Thanks to a generous community, every one of the youth in the Matthews House program received not only a gift card, but a gift bag of goodies to open. For more pictures, come visit our blog

Matthews House Gets a Van

Van

Thanks to the incredible generosity of an anonymous donor and the smaller gifts of several supporters, the Matthews House recently became the proud owner of a gently used white 15-passenger van.

Most of the youth we work with have few transportation options and in order to allow them to take full advantage of activities and services offered at the Matthews House we frequently serve as a source of transportation. In the past we relied solely on staff and volunteers to use their own vehicles to pick-up and transport youth. But the addition of our new van is already saving us money by reducing the number of trips needed and the mileage costs, allowing us to redirect money saved back into our program. And we’ll be sure to have room for all the youth who want to participate in future programs.

Purchase With Purpose this Christmas

By purchasing gift cards through the new Matthews House online gift card store, you can help to provide young adults in transition with the weekly mentoring support, recreational activities, life-skills training, academic support, and career-building activities they need to build a successful future full of hope.

With dozens of gift card options, you can contribute to The Matthews House through your everyday purchases, like gas, groceries or office supplies – as well as by purchasing Christmas gifts for friends and family.

Gift cards are sent directly to you by mail with no additional shipping or handling. So for example, you pay $100 for a $100 gift card to Home Depot delivered to your door in about a week and the Matthews House receives $4-$8 (depending on the retailer). You can even set up recurring purchases each month and use the store to help you budget. And you can still use your credit card so you get those points or miles.

This is a great chance to support the Matthews House without spending an extra dollar!
